7 days itinerary to visit Bhutan

 


Day 1: Arrive in Paro and visit Paro Taktsang (Tiger's Nest)

  • Fly into Paro International Airport and transfer to your hotel.
  • Visit Paro Taktsang, a sacred monastery located on a cliffside.
  • Enjoy the scenic views of Paro Valley


Day 2: Thimphu sightseeing

  • Drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan
  • Visit the National Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in memory of the third King of Bhutan
  • Visit the Tashichho Dzong, a fortress that houses the government offices and the king's throne room.
  • Visit the Folk Heritage Museum, which showcases the traditional Bhutanese way of life.


Day 3: Punakha sightseeing

  • Drive to Punakha, a scenic town located at the confluence of two rivers.
  • Visit Punakha Dzong, a beautiful fortress that served as the seat of Bhutan's government until the 1950s.
  • Hike to Chimi Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to the fertility goddess.


Day 4: Gangtey Valley excursion

  • Drive to the beautiful Gangtey Valley, known for its stunning natural beauty and the endangered, black-necked cranes.
  • Visit Gangtey Monastery, one of the oldest and largest Nyingma monasteries in Bhutan.
  • Enjoy a nature hike in the valley.


Day 5: Bumthang sightseeing

  • Fly to Bumthang, the spiritual heartland of Bhutan.
  • Visit the Jambay Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan.
  • Visit the Kurjey Lhakhang, where Guru Rinpoche meditated and left his body imprints on a rock.


Day 6: Trongsa sightseeing

  • Drive to Trongsa, a historic town that was once the seat of Bhutan's monarchy.
  • Visit Trongsa Dzong, a majestic fortress that served as the ancestral home of Bhutan's royal family.
  • Visit the Tower of Trongsa Museum, which showcases the history and culture of Bhutan.


Day 7: Return to Paro

  • Drive back to Paro.
  • Visit the Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan.
  • Explore the town of Paro and do some last-minute shopping.
